No one is more upset than the employees of these airlines. We have lost friends and family. The airline is working overtime doing all it can to assist the families of the victims. Our community, which is heavily populated by AA and Delta families, is in mourning. To talk about further weakening companies that employ many many thousands of Americans in an already precarious economy is, imo, irresponsible and reckless. Do they honestly believe that this could accomplish more than the horror of this week has already achieved? Let's not confuse who the enemy is here. The weapons so far reputed to have been brought on board, such as the boxcutters, may not even have been illegal. We're not talking uzis and guns and bombs. There is no way we can secure perfectly, control with absolute confidence, what gets onto a plane. I am convinced there will be changes, the pilots will demand this, the flying public will demand this. But penalizing the companies financially will only hinder the effort. that is my rant for the day, or hopefully the week.
