Don't know about Charlotte. I have relatives in Durham, quality of life is very good there, and a good place to live if you have kids. Don't know much about financial services industry there (I know Charlotte is something of a regional banking hub though, and BAC is headquartered now in Charlotte).

I stayed there for two weeks, quite a dull town IMHO. If your married and want to settle its quite nice though.
