If I heard the Star Spangled Banner right now, I would probably melt. Try the Faith Hill version that Rich1 put up this morning. Customer came in and I had it cranked with tears in my eyes. By the end of it he did also. Neither of us spoke a word until it was completed.

I may have mentioned it before, but yesterday morning, I was watching NBC before coming to work. They came back from a local segment and the screen was filled with a closeup from a great distance away of the upper part of the Statue of Liberty, holding her torch to those in the World who come to these shores. Then, slowly and deliberately, the camera drew back, and ever so slightly to the East (the vantage point may have been as far away as Midtown, or at least somewhere in Greenwich Village). As the camera drew back and turned, the devastation, the smoke, the rubble....the gaping hole in that familiar skyline became more and more apparent. And I thought, there are at least ten thousand bodies at the bottom of that pile. That image has not left my mind since, and won't anytime soon. The Taliban don't have a Statue of Liberty. Their women are not even allowed to leave the house to work.
