i just got off the phone from speaking with my friend's dad back east. he was so moved to hear a call offering condolences, coming from california. he told me that the outpouring of love has been fantastic. he was crying along with me as we talked. he had a house full of people. the secretary of the interior had even called to say that his son may have been responsible for saving many lives. my friend had just wrapped up a visit with all of his family, including his grandmother's 100th birthday party. sisters and cousins and relatives from all over were there to spend portions of that last week with my friend. then he got on flight 93 and went to his death.
