I agree, but Pakistan is guilty as hell of harboring radical Islamic terrorists, and if they want our support we should make it clear that we will no longer tolerate this behavior. No more begging American aid while arming our enemies.

India, Israel hold strategic dialogue in New Delhi

NEW DELHI (AFP) — Israel's National Security Adviser, Major General Uzi Dayan, on Tuesday met his Indian counterpart for talks on areas of mutual concern, a foreign ministry spokeswoman said.

Israeli diplomats have said the talks would focus on possible cooperation in defence and intelligence but officials Tuesday declined to elaborate on the meeting between Dayan and India's National Security Adviser, Brajesh Mishra.

Indian foreign ministry spokeswoman Nirupama Rao described Tuesday's talks as part of an ongoing “strategic dialogue” between the two nations and said the discussions were on “areas of concern to both the countries.”

“This strategic dialogue should be seen in context with similar dialogues between India and several countries,” Rao said, adding that Dayan would also call on “senior leaders in the government” on Wednesday.

Sources said a meeting between Dayan and Indian Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani is also on the cards.

Mishra is also the principal secretary to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Dayan's visit follows a trip by India's foreign minister, Jaswant Singh, to Israel in June last year.

During Singh's visit a joint Indo-Israel Joint Working Group mechanism was set up to share intelligence, fight “terrorism” and train Indian security personnel.

India and Israel established diplomatic relations in 1992 and have a warming relationship, which has upset several Arab states.

Both India and Israel have denied media reports that Israeli experts are helping India combat a 12-year-old Islamic insurgency in Kashmir.

Spokeswoman Rao said Dayan's delegation comprised of senior Israeli defence and security officials as well as foreign ministry officials.

Dayan is also likely to hold talks on the possible sale of defence and security equipment to India.

In July, reports in Israel suggested that the Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) signed an estimated $2 billion weapons contract with India's defence ministry.

Under the terms of the agreement, the IAI, which works in cooperation with Israel's defence ministry, will deliver aircraft, radar systems and surface-to-surface missiles, via India's largest defence contractor, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL).

Experts here say India is also working to integrate its surface-to-air Akash (sky) missile and the Israeli Arrow-2 system to build a comprehensive shield against attack by ballistic missiles and planes.

India's move is to counter the presence of ballistic missiles, including the Chinese M-11 and variants of the M-9, in arch-rival Pakistan.
