The US has made efforts to broker peace agreements and work through differences between the Palestinians & Israelis, ever since the courageous move made by Egypt's Anwar Sadat, to foil an assassination plot targeting Menachim Begin. Why did Sadat die? Because some interests are heightened by maintaining a constant state of war with Israel. Fundamentalists proclaiming allegiance to an Allah that exists in no Koran maintain their own power by sowing hate. This is not revenge nor religion, it is sociopathic violence perpetrated by fraud. Granted, the US govt has wronged dozens of countries (and dozens have wronged us. The Shah, Marcos, Noriega, etc etc ad nauseum. We have evolved and as facts come to light, American citizens have vocally opposed one-sided policies and the support of thugs. With the Internet, the capacity to bypass national media and communicate with folks worldwide only strengthens the unity of common people against all acts of stupid and cruel governments. I can understand anti-American sentiments in some places, most notably Palestine and Iraq. But most of them confine it to sentiment, not massive assaults on thousands of citizens of ANY foreign land. Put the blame only where it belongs.... on the murderers. Our government and our public is NOT responsible. Of other events, we may be culpable, but most folks are guilty of believing the national media, leaving them ignorant of all the things you mention. Gullibility & ignorance are not capital offenses requiring execution. If the goal is peace, the access via the Net is where true peace lovers would begin the quest in these times. I maintain these terrorists, even the suicidal ones seeking a place in heaven, do not act out of anything but selfishness and ego. They are the trailer trash of humanity.
