SEC/Buyback Rules -2: Change May Help Liquidity Monday WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Securities regulators will ease restrictions on corporations buying back their own stock, lawmakers said Thursday.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is expected to make an announcement by Friday lifting or easing existing restrictions on corporate stock buybacks, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael Oxley, R-Ohio, told reporters.

The SEC's action would allow companies to buy additional shares when U.S. equity markets reopen for trading on Monday, providing added liquidity to the market.
