On the acts of war: May the bastards burn in hell. On cars: I have bought each of my kids a big old clunky car for their first car. Both for safety and to teach them to drive something other than a brand new car. My latest driver, CRASH, has dented or wrecked three cars. Her '84 Thunderbird four times, my '99 F150, and almost totalled my wife's 2000 Taurus. Since she is a great kid otherwise, she is still. JK. Honor roll, active in the church and school choruses , etc. Back to cars. Each of the big old clunky cars I bought were in need of repair. The kids were required to help me fix them up. I bought my son a '77 Monte Carlo. We, together, painted it, installed a new dash cover, new carpet, new sound system, including a BOOM box and AMP. His car was voted the "Longest Car In The School Parking Lot". The hood on that thing had to be six feet long. We sold it after he graduated and I sold him my Firebird Formula, which he still has. CRASH has an '84 Thunderbird. We, together, painted it. She was out in it a few months ago and almost got t-boned by another teenage driver. My youngest (15) was with her and barely avoided serious injury. I bought a parts car, we fixed it, and she is still driving it, but she hates it now. I recently was on EBAY, saw an old BMW that was going for what I thought to be a too low price, and am now the proud owner of an '85 BMW 528e. CRASH is learning to drive it. It is a stick shift. Her T'bird cut off on her on the way to school today and had to be pushed off of the road, so she wants the BMW. Damn I'm soft. Oh well. Daddys and their girls. A guy at work recently was telling me how his daughter had blown up her Camaro. I inquired about the car and ended up buying it for my youngest. He told me the radiator had a leak and his daughter had run it hot and destroyed the engine. I figured it would be another perfect project for my daughter and I. I took her to look at it and she loved it and agreed to the project. I got it for $100. Upon inspection, the motor only had a loose vacuum hose and is in good condition. Now my youngest has her clunker. My first car was a '56 Chevy clunker that taught me the values I am transferring to my children. Later. Have fun, Phil
