While the US ignored its ultimate responsibilities, Neville Chamberlain tried to appease a fascist and look where it got the world. The Johnny six packs you mention are being victimized just as much by the fundamentalists as by some of the tyrants we supported. We are thick in the middle of this for at least three central reasons, keep Democracy alive in Israel, to keep the flow of oil moving to the world's markets and to keep as much oil money as possible out of the hands of terrorists. Before we start aggressive activities overseas, we should spend several months ensuring that we exterminate / deport as many invaders as possible that are within our borders. Very simply, give all illegal aliens 24 hours to turn themselves in or else. I am sure there are many other actions we need to take as a country at war.
