Apparently it has been done. Someone I talked with this afternoon who works here in Seattle for a company that supplies most of the oxygen systems for Boeing said that Boeing has secure doors and crew compartment bulkhead as an option to airlines. I don't know which airplanes it is available for or much in the way of details. It would probably only be the base from which to work from for a more complete system that would eventually emerge. However, a secure cockpit door structure could be a very quick thing to implement if one is currently available. Then it would get down more to production scheduling for manufacture and then for installation. Nothing is simple when it comes to modifying an aircraft because of all the minutia of qualifications and testing the stuff has to pass and the airlines reluctance to pull airplanes out of service - but then again when you have the prospects of having entire fleets grounded rather than a few planes at a time rotating out, priorities tend to change.
