I understand your question, and share your concern both as to ethics and practicality of eliminating terrorism. However, conjecture over the how-to is the thing that should not currently be discussed in public.

You've probably guessed that I grew up in a military family. "That is all." (that I will say for now).

As to emotion and ethics, how do we avoid hurting innocent Moslems? Embrace them; this is the fundamental strength of the United States that Rick was talking about. We have nothing to fear from devout believers in God.

With regret and embarrassment, I have to tell you that in my town this week there has been harassment of the U.S.-BORN CHILDREN of members of the local mosque. Most of their parents are doctors who have spent their careers treating all of us, including me. I am ashamed for our town. I am not ashamed of efforts that most nations of the world will make to destroy the guilty, whether they be in terrorist training camps, or in banks in Switzerland, or anywhere else.

Note: I'm not singling out the Swiss, just a random example, culled from history.

MM, this is a cut and paste of a real post. I have slightly edited to protect the author's identity.

<..just a second. I do not want to make this <thread> another one of those hyped up anti-Islamic boards.

I am Muslim. My parents are Lebanese and I lived the first 11 years of my life in S.Arabia. My father was an architect and worked on reale esate projects of prominent S.Arabians including King Faisel and Bin Laden's brother!!

The reason my father moved us to Toronto(even though he made a lot of money) is because even though we lived in S.Arabia for that long we were still considered foreigners, NON-S.Arabians!! Even though we were Islamic Arabs!!

Bin Laden himself was hated by his family and his country, why else would he seekk asylum outside his home country?!

As a Muslim and as an Arab I am ashamed. People like Bin Laden and his followers believe that God has given them permission to pass on the word of Islam by the use of violence against humanity. As far as I am concerned they are all going to hell. They have made the world hate muslims. I see where non-muslims come from when they hate Arabs. I just hope that people use cool heads and reason in realizing that Bin Laden and his followers DO NOT represent all Muslims and Arabs.

Just had to pour my heart out.
My deepest sorrow goes out to all the victims, no matter the nationality or the religious faith.

lets take a few days off and return to ...... after the weekend.

thanks,
