Hi Jay - it's always great to read everything you write. I feel deeply honored by this connection to someone who sees things I will never see, and goes to such effort to explain them to me.

I don't want to take exception to something you wrote, just say that if it's not a rhetorical question, I think I could give you an answer, with the help of my ultra-conservative husband, if necessary - he's more in tune with that zeitgeist than I am.

>> Now how do we see the MFN trade status and how do we see Falungong?<<

"We" obviously doesn't mean Chinese, it means people in the US, right?

Well, Jay, my husband agrees with you, basically. He even agrees that people who don't understand the issues involved shouldn't vote - which isn't the same as illiterate.

But he does disapprove of the way China treats Falungong, and he does disapprove of Most Favored Nation status for China and he does disapprove of China being admitted to the WTO.

Channeling the H now:

1. Falungong is a peaceful meditation group.

2. We are selling you the rope with which to hang us - actually you're selling us the rope with which to hang us and using the money to buy missiles and other weapons.

3. China is a Communist dictatorship where the money goes to the state rather than the private sector.

Perhaps everyone misunderstood me.

The quip applies to everyone, Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

We need to have love and tolerance on the part of everyone. It is so much easier to be tolerant than to be hateful. Such a simple thing.

I don't advocate hugging your enemy when he has a gun to your head. But I do advocate not ever unnecessaarily putting agun to anyone's head. If everyone thought like that,it would be a beautiful thing.

I know it's wishful thinking.
