Television makes it immediate for all of us.

We are galvanized here too. There are lines to give blood and many places to make Red Cross donations.

My 13 year old niece asked my brother if we should start practicing hiding from nuclear bombs...

Pat, we're equally galvanized over here, too. Here, in the Bay Area, it could have been the TransAmerica building. Golden Gate bridge has been heavily patrolled.

The 3000 miles between us, feels like less than a block away.
