eco,

Re:<<There's no doubt that everyone here is behind GW 100%. But, by God, he better do his job right or there's going to be Hell to pay. By Hell to pay, I don't mean Republicans will lose the the White House, or the majority in Congress. I mean we'll find Anthrax in the water supply, or a nuke in a crate, or you name it.

If this administration is not up to the task of finding an erudite solution to this extremely complex problem, we're in a heap of trouble>>

Very well said, I think. I have the same trepidations about saying what we're going to do and taking actions without thoroughly thinking through the consequences - we could have our way with the world and get these people, and push aside anyone who got in our way - but would we do that if it cost us 4 million dead Americans in terrorist reprisals? As you said, in matters this complex one needs to think through each scenario very carefully before one acts.

On the other hand, there are those who inject their own craziness into this tragedy. I just saw a news report on CNN which said Rev. Jerry Falwell has laid blame for this terrorist attack on the sins of "pagans ... abortionists, feminists, gays and lesbians...". Well, now we know whom we need to hold accountable. Shall we execute them, or, as hmly so kindly suggests, just deport them to Canada?

Yep. In my opinion bush is doing and saying the right things (I know he is not saying much which is exactly the point). I am very much impressed by him. I also like the fast action by the FBI.

I think after proper investigation, FBI needs to turn in a list of names, along with the evidence to the head of the countries where terrorist are staying it. "Give them to us in a silver platter in 7 days or else". If they turn them over, good!, continue with more demands and negotiations to keep more groups from organizing. Ask for details about the differenct faction and organizations and continue the extermination.

If they don't, send the battleships over. Once they are there, ask again, 24 hour deadline. If still no action, aim and fire. Try to negotiate at all time but be firm with demands and threats.

Increase intelligence and get some marginal folks on the pay role. Find them, kill them.

I think Powel and Bush will do just fine in this difficult task.

Unfortunately, Junior has indicated that he will take the same approach with this a Senior did with Iraq. If you recall, Senior left Saddam in charge.

Tonight I saw an interview with a military spokesperson. He stated that the U.S. was preparing to engage in sustained actions against six nations with strong ties to international terrorism. This list included Afganistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. I think it also included Libya, but can not recall for certain.

Of course, while this statement was being made, scrolling across the screen was a message that the U.S. was negotiating with Pakistan for rights to stage airstrikes from Pakistan. Presumably, if Pakistan were to agree to this, they would be struck off the list.

The biggest wild card in such a scenario is that both Pakistan and North Korea have nuclear weapons. Neither could strike the U.S., but if North Korea were to launch strikes against South Korea, Japan, and Russia, they could possibly significantly reduce international support for the U.S. actions. Of course, if Pakistan is cooperating with the U.S., Korea might think twice about escalating this to the nuclear level.

if he does not do anything it is guaranteed that sooner or later there would be an Anthrax in the water supply or something of the sort. There is a need to take the terrorists out of the picture at any cost
