I think it is time that we objectively analyze the policy of interfering in other people's affairs and making the kinds of calculations that we see here. I cannot remember of a single case where CIA got it right. Yes on occasions in the very short term the plan works, but in the long term or even the medium term it fails miserably. The united states strongly backed the Islamic fundamentalists in Iran (prior to the hostages), the Iraqi dictator Sadam (prior to the Kuwait war), the Pakistan, showed huge direct support for the Taliban and helped them come to power and numerous other mistakes with dire consequences for everyone. I think it is time we let the world deal with their problems and we deal with the world as the events unfold. The history of engineering the events has not worked so far.
