re: "We just want to exterminate the terrorists. Kill and leave. " Arab world will never believe that. We said much the same thing before Desert Storm. We wanted to build an airbase in the Saudi desert. The arab states objected. We agreed to leave after the battles and the arab states relented. We broke that promise because SA asked us to stay. That act was directly responsible for much of the hatred directed at us. Think about it for a minute. We foreigners have a war machine in the Islamic holy land which we use to kill Iraqi people who are also Islamic. In that aspect I am genuinely disgusted to be an american. We don't belong there, shouldn't be there, and have broken our promise. We no longer have any credibility in the Arab world. I am not saying Iraq shouldn't be contained. I am saying we should have kept our promise and shut down the base. We still should. Why the hell is that base still open?
