Fred, your description of the "trials" fit what I have learned on my recent trip, with one addition, the offenders targeted must be repeat offenders having carried out ("carried out would include the planning stages, not necessarily the actual execution?) more than one terrorism attempt (I believe that whether or not such attempts were successful is not considered), they also try and carry on the "sentence" while the target are actively engaged in the execution of additional attempts. View the above as "conjectures" not fact since there is no way I could ascertain these conjectures.

As for our "doves" on this thread trying to rationalize the attack on America as being a result of ur own policies, all I can say is that these are misguided rationalization. It is a simple and very known fact that the it was the US that stepped into the breach when Moslems in Bosnia and Kosovo were being slaughtered.

It is not our "policies" that are driving these irrational extremist Muslims, but their fear that "globalization" in its broader term (not just economic but also cultural) could engulf extreme Islam and change it irreversibly.
