Yes, we are in deep you-know-what. I suppose I may be unduly paranoid, but it seems to me that the singularity was part of a well thought out plan with a much larger objective in mind.

There has been a lot of rhetoric in the US about a war having been declared, but damned little thought or intelligent discussion about what that means. It means sacrifice, sacrifice, and more sacrifice.

All the countries affected by Islamic fundamentalism need to get together and confect a plan, ruthless in nature, to put a stop to the bloodshed we all face. Legal restraints in the US may hamper an effective response, but no such legal compunctions are likely to stop others like Russia and China.

The money flow that finances terror has to stop, and that's step no. 1. Then, some measure of hope has to be made to exist for the fundamentalists. I'm convinced that, at the core, fundamentalism is a disease of the dispossesed and the poor which is cynically manipulated by their leaders. Give the poor some hope that their lives might be better and I would think that their zeal (and therefore terror) might lessen.
