Hi David, I chose that word deliberately, to make a point you picked up. Yup, bad sh*t coming, even in my self-proclaimed enlightened thinking. Chugs, Jay

On the whole, history shows that the Jihad has been much more moderate and civilized than the Crusade. We don't really have a word for a holy war except "Milhemet Qodesh" (war of holiness) though we certainly have the same idea :)

good stuff about the lady and her studies. One done, and 1.3 billion more:0)

She's been going to the airport everyday to see if she can catch a flight and then back to her Aunt's house in Central Beijing. I told her I doubt anything will leave soon. At least she is on American, but I've only heard of Heathrow being approved as a location to leave from. Not sure when the FAA will approve of Beijing and they might need to get a plane out to China first too.

San Gabriel, California is an amazing place. I haven't been to Singapore (except the airport) or Hong Kong but imagine they are like that except much more densely populated of course. She was living in Alhambra which is the next suburb which has a much more mixed population (very nice place IMO).

P.P.S. Is is just me, or is everybody here on edge?

Yes. But walking this evening through the mild Spring evening in Canberra and seeing all the restaurants and bars packed out everyone here is already moved on to something else. Intense concern lasted about a day here. Newspapers, however, are still dominated about it with special sections.
