They have to check it out if reported and I am fully in favor of this alertness (which most people in the US have never shown to security threats). But we shouldn't get carried away with negative conclusions.

OTOH having "active files" on the case looks good for the FBI.

When I lived in Jerusalem there was an attempt to blow up the Dome of the Rock mosque. I was at a lecture of Meir Kahane that evening (my room-mate was a big fan - I went to maybe three such lectures just to see what it was all about). Lecture was in English and audience was mostly foreign students. Polcie showed up and asked us all to sign our names and show ID. A few American students refused on grounds of "free speech" or whatever. So they arrested them. That night the BBC reported that Israeli police had already arrested suspects at a meeting of the extremist Kach organization of Meir Kahane.

So, since then, I take all such reports with a big barrel of salt until they are willing to give the names and details to the media.
