I thought about the clothing too.
I don't know what to make of it.
Ubiquity of American symbols? That alone makes some people very angry- but not, presumably, the people actually wearing the symbols.

I know some countries get bales of American used clothing- but these are very poor countries in Africa, at least so far as I am aware. A peace corp friend of mine told me baled American used clothing goes over seas occasionally for donation- so one sees American symbols on the clothing because the relief originated in America. I doubt that was the case with the men in the pictures we saw- but of course I don't know.
