How difficult would it be to lob a scud at us today ?

I am thinking that the ability to lob a missile at us is pretty darn easy.

An old, seemingly innocuous cargo vessel, 500 miles off shore. (N. Korea has scuds with range of 900km). Difficult to stop, with todays technology.

The only problem for the terrorists, is that the ship could be captured and traced, but then again, just sink it and slink away on a smaller pleasure craft.

Actually Rumsfeld didn't error in mentioning the SDI. He is responsible for directing the Armed Forces in defense of our country. Even though he is reacting to the current terrorist crisis, he doesn't have the luxury of dropping all the other glass balls he juggles. The budget process continues even if we go to war against the perpetrators of the WTC attack. China and Russia continue to have the ability to reach US soil with nukes. There may be others that I don't know about. The DoD isn't McDonalds or Wendys. The magnitude of Rumsfeld's responsibilities is mind boggling.knc
