FWIW I totally agree with you.
Death is better than dishonor (the dishonor of turning into something worse than the people you are fighting). And that would be an ultimate kind of dishonor (imo).
I can see how people might disagree, but that is the way I see it.

Your comment of, "Why is that hard to understand?" implies that Mars is either stupid, or supportive of the bombing of Mecca. Nothing in the record supports either of these assumptions. I think you owe an apology.
