Hi deibutfeif; Yeah, it was a waste of time, but (1) I'm a f'ing pedant. I just couldn't stand seeing the Koran misquoted. And (2) the guy was saying that the Koran justified various atrocities and inequities. We're going to have to kill hundreds of thousands of Islamic believers, and I think it's best to do this in full understanding of their humanity. To do otherwise is to deny the essential nature of human life, which to me is the ability to choose between good and evil. I know that dehumanizing the enemy makes it psychologically easier to kill him, but I also know our soldiers will find the will to do it, as distasteful as it may be. [But I've been so pissed recently that I can see how a little more could push me over into atrocity territory.] (3) But the real issue was that I damn well know that the U.S. Military fully supports its Islamic soldiers: American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council "Serving Muslims who are members of the United States Armed Forces and Veterans" chaplain.navy.mil Seeing as these Islamic soldiers are defending my fat, old, near sighted ass, I think that it is the least I can do to defend their faith. It is obvious to me that this will not be a walk in the park, and that there is a good chance that some of them will soon be dead, and will never get a chance to have hamburgers and hotdogs next 4th of July. Even for the survivors it will be a psychological hell of the worst sort. What else could I do? -- Carl
