Kastel,Careful there- You are buying into the propaganda of the Islamic Fundamentalists. They want you to believe that the Middle East is 100% true blue Islam.

That is far, far from the truth. See my earlier note on this subject over in Big Dog's Boom Boom Room.

There are many non-Muslim ethnic groups and religions throughout the Middlle East. Islam itself is split into at least three major factions there which do not necessarily get along well. The anti-US rhetoric is Islamic fundamentalists talking.

Ask the Kurds for e.g. in Northern Iraq what they think about the US for e.g., and the no-fly zone that protects them from Hussein....You will find that the US has many friends in the Middle East.

Don't let the fascists dissuade you of that fact....

And as for oil- the opposite is true. The Middle Eastern governments fear that the West will lose interest in and move away from use of their oil. That would leave the various countries sitting on basically a lot of sand....i.e economically marginalized and distressed.
