R U with US or not, U punk
Punkistan is between a Rock and a Hard place

Pakistan's mere pious words against terrorism aren't enough. Show it in deeds or shove off. R U with US or not. If you aren't with US, seek god's help, because you are't getting any mercy from US. Man, your ass is on line. Think with your head, Punko. - JPR

US slams a wish list in Pakistan's hands

The United States has handed over to Pakistan a list of things it must do to prove that it is cooperating with Washington in locating and punishing the terrorists responsible for the Tuesday attack on the New York World Trade Centre and Pentagon, reports said.
These include providing information about Osama bin Laden and terrorist training camps in Afghanistan.
The reports said the list of things included allowing US warplanes to fly over Pakistan's territory.

Dear JPR:

IMHO the US has to give Pakistan and other Islamic/Arab countries some "cover" here and not "demand" anything. All of these countries have a sizable minority of people who view the US as a "bully" and Bin Laden a "protector" of Islam and its interests.

If the US "DEMANDS" that these governments do something it will appear to Arab/Muslim domestic populations that their governments are kowtowing to US interests which then is perceived as disrespecting both Islam and their own national sovereignty. Better instead for the US to approach Muslim/Arabic countries quietly and offer aid and assistance to those who help the US.

There is also a strong sentiment among Arab dissidents that the US props up tyrannic oligarchic Arab regimes and actually stifles the rise of democratic institutions in these countries in the interest of political stability and uninterrupted oil flow.

Additionally, a history of colonialism in these countries makes the populace very suspicious of anything "demanded" by Western Powers. I think Sec of State Powell has badly overplayed his hand here (when he called the ministers of 15 Arab Nations into the State Department and "Demanded" cooperation)--which is what you get when you put a soldier in charge of diplomacy.

I am not supporting terrorism, I am just against stupidity in combating it.

Bill

JPR, I know this is an emotional time, so I am not going to argue with you.

I just makes me sad that you wrote this. Please reflect on the phrase "attack on freedom" that the President used.

It is pointless and dangerous to allow non-govt-sponsored foreigners to learn critical skills in this country and inadvertently allow them to use those skills against US interests. All foreigners entering the country should carry identification cards, the information of which can be obtained by all US law enforcement agencies from databases. The movements of the foreigners should be monitored with those IDs just as in the case of the EZ pass motorists or satellite tracking devices. The one found without ID cards -or any such infraction or irregularity - should be identified, taken to court, judged and meted out appropriate disposition. All these should be funded from the fee generated from the foreigners themselves

JPR - i am surprised that theses are your thoughts.

You are putting all new arrivals to this country (or do u go back to when the Red Indians roamed this land) in danger of being discriminated and targeted. With the tech we have today, it would be no different than the nazi camps. And what about the immigrants children who are born here? How many generations should carry these ID cards?

I know u are probably thinking of 'foreigners' as non-residents. but it doesnt take much to becoem a 'resident; of this country so your idea still would not work.

And finally you are tearing down the fabric of the very ideas and values that have made thiscountry what it is today.

Over reaction to bombing? and that fact that your son 'barely escaped' with his life? If so, I understand.
