I believe that you will find we will NOT take reprisals against innocent civilians but rather their recalcant leaders spewing evil

It would be great if we get all the Taliban in one area and bomb that area into teh stone ages. But realistically that will not be possible.

I dont know what the US will do in the short run but for long term I hope they develop some good foreign policies, like the constituition, and not just jump into the wolrd affairs and try to develop policies on the without putting in any thought of future consequences. Also I would make sure that the CIA is not allowed to develop INSTANT foreign policy of whom to support in any given situation. I am reffering to our support of the Taliban and Saddam Hussein in the recent past.

***Covert Operations Gone Wrong***
This is a historical perspective of an important incident.
My belief is that the President should be given a chance to play out his announced hand. It will bring him glory or dishonor.

In 1971 this country was concerned about Communist influence in Africa. A political person gaining much influence in the region was Patrice Lamumba. He was about the become the ruler of Zaire when he boarded a C 47 with three CIA operatives, employees (call them when you want). When the plane landed he was unconscious and almost beaten to death. He died a few hour later.

Because Lamumba was dead the CIA backed an army Colonel by the name of Mobutu Sesi Seko as the new president. This corrupt puppet of the CIA stole every dime of foreign aid sent to his country. Israel is the largest recipient of US Foreign Aid, Zaire is number two. Mobutu besides stealing 6 to 10 billion dollars in foreign aid gave his country 25 years of impoverished rule. You could make a strong case that Zaire (now Republic of the Congo)was further ahead in 1910 than it is now.

Why is this important? Because in our haste to eradicate terrorists and the governments that support them, things don't always play out the way we would like.

As a result of this incident the US Congress passed a law in the Ford Administration prohibiting the CIA from engaging in a policy of eliminating people.

My resouces : Various history books that I read in Africa.(mostly in French)
