Fly those Flags! I've been traveling the last 4 days and I have never seen so many American Flags flying.

I reported on that the other night and since then I've seen even more.

Reports on TV say all Flags are bought out and they are waiting for more.

Amazing.

Lots of cars flying them out windows like those college flags on football days.

I have a small 8 inch flag on my desk right now, the same one I had on my desk during the Gulf War.

As I'm typing this, Mrs. RR just called describing how she went into a Walgreens a few minutes ago to buy some Flags to hand out at (they were sold out of course). She said the store was playing John Philip Sousa marches on the PA system, and ya'll know how I like his songs!

Patriotism.

I couldn't help but think while listening to the Noontime service that Bush attended...
It seemed like a prayer and patriotic music as a prelude to a war.
I have this feeling that something will happen this weekend.
While driving around on errands, saw cargo planes from bases North of here heading southeast. Somethings coming....soon.

It is weird to have such a sad feeling that never goes away. We will never be the same....

RR: It is good to hear from you...Its amazing how complex this new global campaign has become. I am impressed how quickly our leaders like Colin Powell are able to start to build a powerful coalition -- countries from around the world are responding more positively than I expected. Its sad that we had to experience this brutal terrorism within our borders. Yet, I truly believe that there may be more unity around the world among civilized nations as a result of how we respond. This will be a LONG and DEMANDING campaign against terrorism. Yet, this week THE GIANT HAS BEEN AWAKENED. We need to be a good steward of our resources as we use them to go to war. The country in the past has often been quite reactive BUT we must become MORE PROACTIVE when we are dealing with potential terrorism threats.

I remain cautiously optimistic and support our President and his team.

Regards,

Scott

BTW, I had a meeting in the Sears Tower for lunch yesterday -- I called the potential client and asked them to move it to an Italian restaurant on the northern part of the Chicago Loop (away from our highest profile buildings)...Some would say I was paranoid. I would claim that I am taking extra precautions. Most folks throughout Chicago are back to work BUT it seems hard for them to focus -- over 3/4 of the conversations are about the tragic terrorist events and how folks may be impacted. Remember the 6 degrees of separation. On my way home in the afternoon yesterday I was walking up my street in Lincoln Park (a historic neighborhood loaded with brownstones) and I realized how proud of our country I was -- flags everywhere ---> on the homes / apartments / condos (so many new ones). Folks are pulling together and it's great to see that. We will be tested in the weeks and months ahead BUT this is a time for unity.
