So long as the last piton holds, everything's OK, right? How funny to have a sense of humor about an event that must be spectacularly terrifying. "Honey, I'm home. "How was your climb, dear?" "Oh, fine. Only two zippers." "Good. Take your muddy boots off before you come in." The US had a zipper this week. And we'll have more. I hope we take them seriously, though I think we'll be passive, lethargic, prosperous and forgetful. The Clinton legacy: "Oh, yes, I'm definitely going to get those guys who bombed the Embassies, blew up the Cole, yeeh, I'm baaaad to the bone, pass the campaign contributions ...baaaad like Jesse James, yeah."
