Rep David Obey D-Wisconsin on C-Span just now said if we appropriate 15 billion to the Airline industry "good bye social security". They are arguing that if the Airlines go under the whole economy is going down the tube. Very compelling statement, although I think the airlines are quick to ask for government funding. If you look at the cash of the airlines on yahoo it appears they have close to a Billion dollars each.
