Tito, thank you for the Philippines history reminder. In April 1945 a convoy of American troops entered the outskirts of my home town, Chemnitz, peacefully. Germans walked to the distant Autobahn to greet them. We were glad it was not the Russians occupying us, because Nazi propaganda had indoctrinated us with reports of Russian atrocities [probably highly exaggerated]. A few days later the Allies had changed their mind and Russians replaced the Americans. I only stayed until I was 18 and old enough to flee to the West. In spite of 7 years of Communist indoctrination it only took ONE day in West Berlin for me to understand the difference between the two systems of government.
