True. FDR was willing enough, but a large part of the country saw it as just Europe's problem. On Dec. 7, 1941 (actually a few days later) it became ours too.

And nevertheless, the US gave the Europeans huge amounts of weapons and did a lot of the fighting.

And for fifty years we held our nuclear umbrella over them.

Now they say this is our problem? That we should solve it diplomatically and leave them out of it? We already tried that and it didn't work.

I understand not all of them are taking this attitude. The French don't surprise me. I think we have a right to expect better of the rest.
