<<No, the war will not be conducted on American soil.>>

The opponents we face are terrorists, their targets are our population. The WTC was on American soil..yes? That attack was the first "battle" of the "war". Are you saying there will be no further attacks in the U.S? I certainly hope not...but that indeed is where they are aiming, and will continue to aim regardless of what pressure is brought to bear on them and their sponsors.

This is new for all living Americans, as we were fortunate in avoiding the widespread civilian consequences of total war suffered by our allies and enemies alike in the World Wars. There will be industries that will benefit, true, but the overall effect on the economy will be decidedly negative. Nonetheless, the battle must go on...there are some principles that are worth more than simple economic well-being. Israelis have known this for years, their war against terrorism has been an enormous economic burden, but one that they MUST bear to survive. Now we are shouldering our part of the load. It will not be over quickly either, IMO, but last the rest of our lives.

No, the war will not be conducted on American soil.
First strike already was.

Growing up we had to contend with bomb scares and were quite a few times pulled out of school. We had mail boxes not far from our home blow up. It culminated with the kidnapping of a British diplomat, James Cross, and the kidnapping and vicious murder of one of our own politicians, Pierre Laporte, and finally invocation of the War Measures Act, tanks rolling in the streets, the works.

The link provides an excerpt from a book put together by those involved, home grown Québec terrorists. Interesting reason's are given as to why Pierre Laporte's murder was justified. You are dealing here with similar and probably worse people. I'm afraid that I do not believe that they are finished.
