I am glad. I am no more anxious to send my son, who is certainly no soldier, than you are to send yours. I am not even bloodthirsty, I just think we cannot let this opportunity to come to a reckoning pass. I think that we must trust to a prudent strategy, conservative of American lives, from our leaders. We have rarely had so qualified a team in charge. Bush chose wisely, when he chose Cheney and Rice and Powell and Rumsfeld, among others. None of them are going to be wasteful with our children. I can see that Bush is the sort of person who feels the weight of decision, as I believe his father did. No one is looking for mere cannon fodder.......

America today has technology that allows the US to own the night and surveil without detection. The enemy survived by the lack of cooperation of countries that surrounded countries where the enemy lived. Also by the support of countries that offered safe harbor.

The way President Bush and Putin got on may provide invaluable assistance in allowing the US to smoke a terrorist or 5000.

There may be a real will in some countries to rid themselves of extreme intolerant dictatorship of individuals or committees.
