Actually they gave it all kind of lip service, but when it came time to come up with the dollars to pay for the necessary precautions, the democrats used their typical class warfare rhetoric to try to gain political advantage rather than doing what was necessary for national security. If you can get your hands on a copy of the national security strategy you'll see combatting terrorism is one of our priorities. I'm not sure if it's available to the public.
