PK, I always tip, unless the service is horrible, but back in the days when most of my meals were purchased by brokers, I wondered if they were taking care of the servers. I have had Maitre D's tell me that I was always welcome, but they would appreciate it if I didn't return with certain guests. But that wasn't about tipping. It was usually more about drinking. Though there was one time my boss at a major financial firm almost got into a fist fight with an options trader from a big brokerage firm. And neither was drinking. And the time a drunk options trader passed out and, falling, pulled the food and drink off the table next to us. And the time another broker's options trader had to have one of each desert on the tray, seven in all, and then got sick in the main dining room. And the time a drunk options trader started picking on a little person in a loud voice and insulting his wife and I came close to punching him out, myself. Fortunately, the little person was some sort of karate champion and took care of the six foot two schlub before I could bruise my knuckles. Wait a second. I think the rule must be to never have dinner with an options trader. <g> To be fair, I've had hundreds of dinners with options traders that were great. I just don't remember any of them. <G>
