I've been thinking that perhaps asbestos insulation over the structural columns could have delayed the towers' fall, saving lots of lives. But asbestos is a dirty word in the US. It is nasty stuff, but not in this application if it is applied wet with no dust.

As a kid, I used to try to set asbestos on fire at my family's hardware store in Mexico where we sold it in bulk. No problems so far.

We've missed your rants during these eventful days.

I see the Euros are moaning and groaning about Echelon. That may change after the events of the 11th. No word from the taciturn Kiwis.
