I'm pretty downbeat about us ever stamping out terrorism without having the root problem in the middle east fixed. When someone is willing to die for a cause a free and open society doesn't have good odds of 100% success against them. On Tuesday, aside from the horrendous loss of life, a relative handful of people caused:

1) 40 billion in Federal spending
2) 30-40 billion in damage (estimated)
3) God knows how much damage to the economy. Airline
stocks will go into the toilet for a LONG time, just
in time firms like Dell I'm sure have been affected,
Ford and GE have already warned, and the beat goes on.

freeus and GV,

Here is an interview that is very helpful if you want to understand the motivations of the Muslim terrorists, and what we are up against with bin Laden.
