Just musing here, but I wonder if you are courageous enough to throw your life away for a sincerely held belief? I'm thinking that the suicide-pilot-terrorists were quite a bit more brave (though nuts) than I could ever be. I live in a world of moral ambiguity and relativism. And I see living as a goal in itself. Others obviously see things differently. I regard these madmen as brave, bold (and utterly mis-guided) warriors.

Their actions did not reflect either character trait. The psychological profile is loss of sanity.
Yeah they were brave devout Muslims preparing to die for God when they weren't in the strip bars or drinking or being charged for DWI LOL.
