"I vowed to him I would help make the world better for him to live in"

Mike, you, personally can do exactly that in by far the
most tangible way for your grandson by being an openly loving, protective, caring, inspiring, truthful, wise
and compassionate grandfather.

THAT WILL CHANGE HIS WORLD!

Namaste!

Jim

You're on for the Zinfadel my friend! I had a chance to leave work in August and I took it. So right now I am not working (no need to feel sorry, it is by choice). My brother tells me that they are setting up DR sites in NJ. He works on Water St. so they hope that everything can be restored soon.

Here is something that made me feel very good tonight and I'd like to share it with you and the thread.

I took a walk in the neighborhood and saw a lot of people carrying candles. Many had gathered in front of the Fire Station offering thanks and sympathies to the firemen. As well many shops had signs and candles lit, and there is a spirit of closeness among the people, which I liked.

Few months ago, an Arab owned deli was opened here. He has an American flag flown on his door in sympathy and when I talked with him, I sensed a mixture of sorrow, guilt, and fear in him. While I was buying my gyro, a man showed up at the door with an inflamatory sign and was "excercising his freedom of speech to ask people not to shop" from this store. What reassured my faith in the human spirit was that many of the same people who were carrying candles, told that man how wrong he was in putting blame where it did not belong. Soon he left and within minutes, 4 FBI agents showed up. They made sure that the shop owner was fine and assured him of his safety. They also gave him a number to call in case there is any problem and told him they'll be in the neighborhood for a few more days. He was explaining that he is a Christian and not related to any Islamic group. And they told him that is irrelevant. He has the protection of the law and help of the people, regardless.

It got me thinking, aside from being the right thing to do, such an approach ensures that this man and his children who grow up here will see themself closer to the society they live in, than the one they left behind.

all the best,
ST
