No one book will give you the whole picture when dealing with such a complex topic; every author has his own perspective (and sometimes agenda). But the combination of a few varying perspectives and your own analysis does the job. Another book which is valuable is Answer to History by the Shah (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) [ASIN: 0812827554]. There was also a good book by the American emabassador to Iran, but I can't remember his name right now. Take over in Tehran is also a good read. I'll have to sort out to see which other books are available in English and which ones the best to read based on your interest. PM me if you are interested. ST
