What did the secretaries in the WTC have to do with terrorism?

Nothing.

The difference between the terrorist and a proper response to it is that the terrorist wants to go after innocent people. The response to it might unfortunately also hurt or kill innocent people but they are not a proper target.

Do you want a protracted ground war?

No but I would rather that, or something ineffective like lobbing a few dozen cruise missles then nukeing large cities.

I think we're more important and you should to.

On an abstract level I don't think Americans are more important then other people. On an emotional level they may be a bit more important to me. On a practical level they produce more and the US can do things other countries can't but people in other countries are not of less worth then Americans. If you want to focus on the terrorist I would say they are of less worth but thats not who I was talking about. Also the idea I challenged was not even the idea that they are worth less but rather that they are worth nothing. Do you believe that Arabs are worth nothing? If so then your thoughts (and the actions you propose) are no better then that of the terrorists.

"It could lead to an era of barely imagined death and destruction."

It already has.

Your would make it worse, and could make it worse even if you are only counting the damage from attacks on the US.

(stupid senseless and evil) I'm afraid that is all they understand.

You think that randomly killing people who didn't attack us would deter people from attacking us? It will cause more people to support and join the atackers while denying us support in our fight against terror. The US government would have become the biggest terrorist organization in the world. You are arguing that since they (the terrorists) killed thousands of us, we should kill millions who are near them in order to maybe get a few dozen of them. You are also arguing for a policy which would make it harder to wipe out the terrorists and would encourage more terrorists to come in to existance.

I don't think this quote is always true but it seems to apply here - "When you become obsessed with the enemy, you become the enemy."
