"This person is of interest to the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) after the tragic events in the United States," said spokesman Paul Marsh. "He was in possession of material of interest, photographs. We are in contact with American authorities about it." A spokesman for the Immigration Ministry, Rene Mercier declined to comment. The daily Globe and Mail reported Friday that the man, aged around 20, was carrying a travel document issued by the Palestinian Authority. Among the papers was a photograph of him wearing a flight attendant's uniform, against a fake backdrop of the World Trade Center's twin towers, according to the Globe and Mail. He told immigration authorities he was a aircraft maintenance engineer working at Gaza airport. Under Canadian law his admission was not permitted because he was not carrying a Canadian visa. Authorities issued an immigration order, allowing him to be detained. The suspect was traveling to the United States when his flight was diverted to Canada after US airspace was closed, the paper said, citing police sources. On Tuesday, terrorists hijacked four fuel-heavy commercial jetliners and used them as guided missiles against the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York and the Pentagon outside of Washington. A fourth hijacked plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
