A few comments about oil and energy
1) Oil is not the finite resource we have been led to believe. Review the work and research of Thomas Gold. The core of the earth is oil.... Oil does not come from dinosaurs and vegetation. (Common sense would tell us this, but we have always been taught this so we never questioned.)
2) If this is so, then we have Ample Supplies right beneath our feet, and there is no reason to be dependent on foreign oil ever....
3) One of the biggest causes of oil pollution is consumers who change it all the time and do not ispose of it properly.
4) Synthetic oil can be formulated for extended drain intervals. For more than 25 years a U.S. company called AMSOIL has produced motor oil with a one year drain interval. Mobil has demonstrated that synthetic oil can formulated to last three years witout changing it.
Synthetic compressor oils remain in service 8 times what petroleum/conventional based oils last.
5) In short, in light of synthetic oil technology and in light of unlimited natural resources, there is no reason we should be so dependent on foreign oil.

Think through these notes and many conclusions can be extrapolated.
