<<When's the last time we through someone in jail for preaching Islam?>>

While I fully agree with what you say in principle, you might be a bit more exacting. There are many parts of many religions we restrict or prohibit here in the US. We no longer allow native Americans (Indians) to take natural drugs as a sacrament of their religion. The same must be noted of the Rastafarians. With exceptions only for a few well placed & wealthy here on diplomatic visa from friendly middle eastern countries all plural marriages are prohibited. The traditional Tibet Buddhist funeral practice of "Sky Burial" is fully banned.

The similar funeral rites of Zoroastrism are also bully banned. The Hindu practice of Sati< is likewise banned, though it should be noted is more an "occasional custom" not a full "sacrament", but it still exists in India despite being outlawed there.

In closing, while the US claims, and offers to a greater degree than most other countries, "the freedom of religion", we are far far removed from fully clean on the issue .
