My hat's off to you, sir. I'm not sure I would have that in me. Today I made two calls to Islamic centers to express my sorrow at that phenomenon. I fight against my own prejudice because I just feel like lashing out. My city is filled with people of all races, owing to the three to five cruise ships that visit here every day. Many of the service crew are Filipino or some other race, and we also have a fine Filipino community here. Sometimes I get annoyed because it is difficult to communicate with their limited English. Sometimes I wish I could be alone among my own kind. I feel angry because their behavior is different, and it is sometimes annoying. I was in Kmart tonight feeling cross because most of the employees could hardly speak English. I was looking for an American flag for my porch because I had packed mine away. Some other people were doing the same thing and helped me find some flags. They were Filipino and native Tlingits. We all walked out with flags. I was annoyed a year or so ago at a gas station mechanic; obviously he was of Arab extraction. He poked around my engine compartment, but had no idea what to do. He was simply incompetent. I had to consciously suppress a racist thought from my mind, and I have consciously avoided passing on racist thoughts to others, even though I have them. I'm doing my best to work against them.
