Until the events of the past days I had turned bullish, I had thought that economic conditions were troughing out. Since I have no way of knowing the way all parties concerned will react to the current true crises, I have no basis for investing. I am definitely starting to get the feeling that the radical actions that need to be taken will not be taken. The novelty of this situation will make it much harder to discern typical cyclical trends. So I wait.

As you have said you maintain a substantial amount of your net worth in energy equities. Wow! You're gonna get a wild ride eh? Actually the non-oil energy sector may prove a very fruitful area of research. I am beginning to seriously consider the events of the past few days have signalled the end of the hydrocarbon age. Hydrocarbon man probably died in the rubble. The time has finally come for Western Civilization to finally free itself of the ball and chain of Arab oil. The only thing the middle east produces that anybody wants is oil. With that oil comes the money for these looney tunes to finance their psychotic Gotterdamerung fantasies. Oil has become too expensive a commodity to base civilized life on. Let the Mullah's and their minions return to the bucolic beduoin life. ;o}

I don't exactly know when the critical intellectual mass will be reached, but I think it will come a lot faster now, a lot faster. Once that critical mass is acheived the re tooling will be massive and rapid. So I am now looking for investments in this area, does anybody have ideas in this area?
