The reasons are mostly emotional i think, not logical. I agree. However, emotional response is transient. Also if vacation travel is considered consumer spending, that portion of it is going to drop very sharply, as GST has noted. This will take longer to come back to "normal." The money typically spent for this vacation travel may very well be spend on more automobiles or let's say higher end automobiles, clothing, housing, local entertainment, etc. I do not see people sitting in their houses bored.
