Well, JLA, that is the first substantive post I have ever read of yours on SI, and I'm grateful for it. Of course you can simply define their religiousness out of existence if it makes you feel more comfortable to do so. Just as you can now claim that the perpetrators of the Inquisition were not really Christians. Say anything to arrive at the conclusion you need to prop up your preconceptions and agenda, but of course it makes no sense. I suppose you think the Taliban aren't religious. LOL. Few Christians were involved in the atrocities of the Inquisition. Few Muslims are involved in terrorism. Some Christians were, some Muslims are. I don't believe that the way it works is you get to deny the truth and switch definitions when the facts upset you. Among other things, the ploy is intellectually childish and ethically weak.

JLA, now that I know you can write full sentences and express an actual concept, I know you are capable of understanding the absurdity of the position that it is an attack on religion or God to acknowledge the completely documented fact that these people are Islamic fundamentalist extremists who believe, for example, that their 'martyrdom' will win them immediate entry into the Paradise of their faith. There are good and bad Christians. There are good and bad Muslims. These are bad Muslims.
