Some of this does bear repeating, David, because the Palestinians keep denying it. They dare to say that the Jews have no historic connection to the Land of Israel whatsover, and there never was either the First or Second Temple on the Temple Mount. I'm sure by now most uneducated Arabs actually believe this.

It also is true that Palestinian nationalism was created in the early '60s. The idea of a Palestinian nation (as opposed to an Syrian one) did not exist in 1948, nor were there any institutions of a Palestinian state-in-the-making. That's one reason that the leadership class of Palestine ran off before the end of the Mandate to Cairo and Damascus rather than stay and fight.

That doesn't mean Palestinianism doesn't exist now, but it's right to combat the Palestinian propaganda that says there's been a historic country of Palestine for 3000 years, until the Jews, apparently picking the country out of hat, chose to invade in the 20th century.
